在2014年有車主將這台紅色的豐田汽車，停在荷蘭鹿特丹的路邊，這不是什麼稀奇的事，但問題是，這天偏偏就有個「不平常」的事發生了...

Normally, leaving your car parked on the street would be no big deal in Rotterdam. This, however, was no normal weekend.

別以為這樣就夠噁心了，更恐怖的還在後頭！

▼仔細一看，還會發現絲線下是一大群扭動的毛毛蟲！看看這個被毛毛蟲佔領的輪胎！

However, if you look closer, you can see that the creators of the web aren't actually spiders at all. No, in fact they're moth larvae, aka caterpillars.

至於原因，是因為一大群的蛾不約而同都在同一棵樹下產卵，當卵孵化時，母蛾製造出一大堆的網，來保護毛毛蟲不被其他天敵吃掉。當然不只有這台車遭殃，周遭的街道也被這些蛾和毛毛蟲弄得一團糟。

And it wasn't just the car that was covered in them, the whole street was coated from top to bottom in caterpillar webs.

這些都只是大自然的正常情況，但是看到一大群的毛毛蟲還是覺得很噁心啊！

Turns out, this happens when multiple female caterpillars lay their eggs in the same tree. When the eggs hatch, a chain reaction of sorts can occur as thousands of young moths create webs for protection against predators while they look for food.
